_______________

Registration fee includes workshop materials and a signed copy of The New Science of Learning.

It’s been nearly 2.5 years since ChatGPT made its debut—uninvited, fast-moving, and now firmly embedded in higher education. While early concerns focused on hallucinations and shortcuts, the conversation is shifting toward how AI might support meaningful learning. For educators, that means asking: How can this technology align with what we know about how students learn best?

This preconference workshop is designed for both AI beginners and casual users looking to explore how AI can enhance teaching and learning. We’ll begin with a grounded look at current ethical concerns, then turn to key concepts pertaining to the science of learning. From there, we’ll consider practical ways AI tools can help students engage more deeply with content, build durable knowledge, and develop lifelong learning skills.

We are going to balance curiosity with caution and theory with application. Using AI and active learning throughout the workshop, participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to leverage AI intentionally, ethically, and effectively in today’s college classrooms.
